Stress Management
This experiential programme will equip your organisation with the skills to identify and manage stress in yourself and your teams.
The Health and Safety Executive estimate that, at any one time, approximately 415,000 people are affected by work-related stress, anxiety or depression, with an estimated 11.4 million lost working days due to these work-related conditions.
Many studies have shown that where managers and team leaders are trained to identify and manage stress in both themselves and their teams, it has a dramatic impact on staff well-being, reducing ill-health and absenteeism, and improving productivity, job satisfaction and workplace relationships.
Our programme will give you an opportunity to recognise the signs and symptoms of stress in yourself and others, together with a wide range of positive action strategies to bring these under control.
The ‘Stress Management’ programme includes:
- Understanding of the ‘Fight, Flight or Freeze’ response; and how to identify whether you and your team are operating in Survival Mode or Competency.
- How to recognise and challenge ‘thinking errors’ such as ‘catastrophising’, predicting negative outcomes, discounting positives and ‘all or nothing’ thinking.
- Understanding of the relationship between Pressure, Stress and Peak Performance and how to ‘manage your state’ in the face of significant challenges and demands.
- How to distinguish positive stress (‘eustress’) from negative stress (‘distress’) and development of strategies for maximising eustress and minimizing the harmful effects of distress.
- The relationship between stress and personality and techniques for effectively managing stress in others.
- Additionally, you will learn a number of highly effective relaxation techniques to instantly undo the effects of the ‘wear and tear’ of the stress response on the mind and body.
This flexible programme is available for both individuals and teams and can be customised to provide a ‘best fit’ for industry sectors and/or according to individual or group needs.
